What a stupid idea! Madness!

When coming back from Germany, we said "We're off to Spain/Portugal next - then where?". As in Feb the weather is crap, we thought about simply going snowboarding. So started googling snowboarding, then looked on the map to see where the resorts were. "Hmm - we actually almost pass Andorra and the Pyrenees on the way back, and oh look, there is a ski resort in Sierra Nevada just a few miles from Malaga......" Only problem, is the van really isn't winterised for really sub-zero temperatures. Cue:- - Installing pipe insulation - Installing extra "loft insulation" in all the gaps - Buying "frost heaters" and tank insulation for our fresh water tank - Buying snowboarding trousers. So currently, the van is in bits, the water tank is in the dining room, and we're awaing delivery of the last lot of parts. Hmmmmm. De Ja Vous from the last trip using the 11th hour to fit extra batteries! Where do these stupid ideas come from!!?!?! So maybe this year, Christmas on the beach, and New Year snowboading..... Maybe....

Scouting For Girls

What an excellent name for a band! After blasting this out this afternoon we decided the lyrics of one of Scouting For Girls songs was superb and worth a mention! We've booked in to see them live in Hammersmith in November when we're back in the UK for a week or so. If you've not heard "I need a holiday" then suggest you turn up your volume and play the above video. Not the official video but a cool one made by a couple of girls as a project. How apt! Or should we say, "How apt it was...." :) ENJOY!

ALMOST ready to go!

Blimey, its been a long time (or feels like it) - but our adventure starts Sunday! Off to Holland to start our big escape. Mel has at last finished work and now getting eager to go..... Just making some final changes to the van - talk about last minute. We've had refillable LPG (Gaslow) installed with a single 6kg cylinder (with a 6kg calor as backup) so that we can use more gas in Europe without worrying. We should be able to fill up at any LPG petrol station. I've "obtained" >10,000 GPS POI's to make this easier :) Also decided last minute to fit 2x 100AH batteries (rather than 1x 85AH) which should give us much more electricity when camping away from real sites. However, this wasn't easy and has found a minor problem or two that needs rectifying and I'm still awaiting parts! We have a contingency plan if they don't come tomorrow..... Beer and chocolate biscuts packed! Numbers for Amsterdam 1/2 marathon have arrived Apart from that..... ROLL ON SUNDAY!!!! (It'll be good not to see the news for a few months!!!)

Telling everyone of Plan B!

Unbelievably, we’ve kept our plans a secret from everyone! A few hints here and there – but thats it. Good job too in hindsight!

So – this blog has been converted to integrate into http://www.doyourdream.co.uk which is our new website dedicated encouraging everyone to do their dream and JUST DO IT rather than become a automatic cog in a big machine.

Hope you enjoy this site and our antics, and feel free to add any dreams you have to the SHARE YOUR DREAM forum

For us, once Mel works her notice (shame! 2 months of restful DIY for me!) we’ll be off to Holland and North Germany for 6 weeks; back for a couple of weeks; then off again to Spain/Portugal for 6 weeks including meeting up with some mates and going motorbike trail riding (leaving Mel with the van). Then after Christmas and New Year on the beach, we’ll be back for a couple of weeks and then off again! No idea where yet!!

The adventure begins!

Time to email everyone and try and see everyone before we go!
