Well, we’ve now committed to a 2-month snowboarding trip over Christmas 2010 and New Year 2011, probably covering the entire of the Alps.  So to celebrate we went out and bought some new snowboarding gear – and Mel has even gone a bit girly with “rock-chick-pink” boots (*not* Barbie pink!).  So new boards, boots, bindings and bags all sorted by Snowtrax in Bournemouth who gave us a very fair deal on everything as well as spending a lot of time with us.  And of course, the boards fit perfectly in our box!

Just need snow tyres now and we’re good to go – only, erm, 9 months to go L

Sorry for being quiet – lots going on sadly which is keeping us in the UK. We’ll be home till the end of April now, but after that depends on fate, luck and the direction of the wind!!

We have though made plans through to May 2011, including planning to go snowboarding for 2 months over Christmas 2010 and New Year through to 2011 then a complete opposite trip to head over to Morocco and the desert!

Watch this space, but rest assured, we’ve no plans to fall into full time work for a while yet! :)

Blimey – that was a tough 6 days for us both to help out with Roy Wood Transits on their stands with the Cavarno (which we have) and their Westfaila range.

We met someone virtually every day who we met on our travels around Europe, so hello again to you all and thanks for saying hi!  We also met a load of people who knew us due to our website, and even some who specifically came to see the vans because of the website.  And some of those bought one!

Big hello to all the new people we met there and hope our information was useful for you, and if you bought one (I lost track!) hope you have as much fun as we have!

R&M

As in both the laptop is working (Dell replaced CPU, Motherboard, heat sink, and fans – e.g. most of it!); and we’re back from France in one piece.

Diary and pictures now uploaded.

We’re home briefly.  Came home early as Mel wasn’t (isn’t) 100% still after her bug – and as Scotland was full of heavy rain we decided it would be unwise for Mel to continue working outside with the animals.

So – home – and we may sneak a weekend away in the UK before we go to France for a month.

The Scotland trip was superb – really busy but we crammed a lot in.  Full details can be seen here

Hoorah!

We’re managing to get things sorted. We still can’t leave the UK for long (for reasons that will soon become apparent, and no, nothing to do with the Police!).

We’re off to Scotland on 8th August via Tamworth for a few days snowboarding practice, then continue north to spend some time in  Edinburgh for the festival, go to the Military Tattoo, and also to British Touring car championship at Knock hill.  Then we’ve actually got a voluntary job at an animal rescue place where we’ll spend a week offering our services as well as spend time in the local area which we’re looking forward to.

Then home for a week or so, then off to the south of France for a month or so before coming back in October for the Snowboard show – and I may also have a job for a week.  Also got to sort out the van MOT, insurance and tax which is quite difficult from afar!

After that – things will get more interesting – watch this space…. J

We’ve had a few people ask what we’re up to now as we’ve been home for a month and been very quiet. Are the travels over?
Hell no! :)
We’re working on a couple of projects which mean we’ll have to be in the UK for a few months, and so the travel and European tour will continue from Autumn through 2010…. and, assuming various projects go as hoped, maybe beyond…..!
So what are we doing now?
Well yes – I know – we’re supposed to have given up work – but unfortunatley as we’re in the UK we’ve got to do *something* – and events have a habit of forcing your hand. As such, we’ve started a business up! Its called “Your Friendly Help” – http://www.yourfriendlyhelp.co.uk
Basically, we’re pimping ourselves to the highest bidder!
This means Mel is offering Vet Nursing cover (Locum/Temp) – and unfortunately for her – got a job within a week of us coming back (lol!) – so she is very busy.
Ryan (me) has become an IT consultant and is currently undertaking some consultancy work for a company in the city to completely redesign their infrastructure with the latest technology. Thank goodness my previous company paid for my certification! This will take place over the next 2 months and in the meantime learning all the necessay for accurate and efficient running of a business and all the ways possible to (legally!) avoid Tax!
So we’re busy, having fun, and the tour is paused for reasons that will become clear shortly…!

Home!

We’re home!  7 weeks of travel and the bath was a nice change!

Home for a short while working on some other projects.

The Italy tour, part of our campervan adventure is all written up on www.doyourdream.co.uk with full details on cost, route, and loads of free places to say.

After 4,000 miles of driving, apart from Genova, the M25 near Heathrow is still one of the worst roads in Europe…!

We’re off!

After a few weeks at home we’re off again.  Heading to Italy via Switzerland.  And thats about all we know!  No plans, no route, we’re just going to see what happens and where fate takes us!  It was good to catch up with a lot of people when we were home and we look forward to seeing you all next time we’re back – or even bump into you in Italy J

Let the adventure begin…..!

The next trip is decided…  Long drive to Italy via Switzerland…

We will remember to stock up on Tesco chocolate digestives and bourbons before we go!
